 (^^,)

Our first official cooked supper

24 April 2012: Ricardo came to me after visiting Kylie and I made us a lovely bacon and mushroom pasta with feta and avo... it was awesome. And something's different... been feeling this way ever since Ricardo put a ring on my finger :) It feels unbelievably AMAZING and I want this feeling to last forever! I know it will, I found an incredible man and I truly am blessed, and LUCKY <3

Blog post of the day

24 April 2012: Finally back at work and ever since we got back to Cape Town I've been sharing the story of the proposal over and over... which is why I wrote the blog post (kinda shared it already in an earlier post on this particular blog). But check it out: http://raylenesongbird.wordpress.com/2012/04/24/the-proposal-3/ ~ got so much love from everyone and I can't even begin to express how much the support means to me, to us <3

Off to the mother land!

23 April 2012: Cape Town... here we come!

Jozi traffic

23 April 2012: But you gotta love Waze ~ the GPS system on Ricardo's phone! So accurate and even tells you where the cops are, and exactly where accidents are, and leads you to alternate and clear routes.

Photo booth

22 April 2012: Ricardo and I loved the photo booth idea and we have decided to have one at our wedding *excited facey*

The Wedding

22 April 2012: Finally it was time for Nazeem & Nazley's wedding... it felt like we were in a movie or something! Everything was absolutely perfect, well-planned and thought out... and surely a major inspiration for our wedding next year! Stunning, breathtaking... I'm running out of words here!

So gorgeous

22 April 2012: It's perfection <3 I absolutely adore my ring! Ricardo sure has excellent taste.

What a pretty man

22 April 2012: As we're walking through the centre I hear Gareth Cliff's voice, and yep, there he was, presenting at some Nedbank show. I played paparazzi and took a snapshot of him. He is really pretty in person!

Breakfast at Sandton City Centre ~ Wimpy

22 April 2012: Impeccable service and quality of food, I must say... wish everyone in the service industry would step up their game like this. I had french toast and a smiley face on my latte. And Ricardo, my strawberry milkshake man, had a nice cheese griller breakfast, nom nom nom. That morning we went parading around the mall looking for suits, didn't buy anything though - because it has to be perfect!

View from the top

21 April 2012: Even though we had to share the ferris wheel ride with two old ladies... we had a blast up there :)

Papa

21 April 2012: Ricardo and I having fun winning teddy bears. I named my lumo monkey Papa... and only later realized he "wag vir jou" LOL!

First come love, then comes marriage...

21 April 2012: Then comes Raylene sitting in a carriage :P

Do not touch the horses

21 April 2012: Or perhaps... Do not HIGH FIVE the horses!

Gold Reef City, here we come!

21 April 2012: Wow, this place is Ratanga Junction on steroids. Wish we had more people with us though... but it was good fun all the same! We went  on the Anaconda (our first ride) and my oh my... it's like we were raped by gravity! I can't think of any other way to describe it, LOL :D

Twin Waters

21 April 2012: Sweet! We got flowers and an engagement card from the owner of Twin Waters guest house... so thoughtful :)

Tears of joy

21 April 2012: That's me on the phone with my Mommy! What an overwhelming moment :) I cried so much but it was tears of pure happiness (**,)

The Proposal <3

21 April 2012: So we were in Olivedale, Randburg (Jozi) for the weekend and apparantly Ricardo had been waiting for the perfect moment to pop the question. We went out for supper with his friends that were getting married the Sunday, and while I was in the bathroom at the restaurant, they were all giving him suggestions on how to do it. So that night, we conveniently got lost... the GPS took us to the middle of nowhere, LOL! Apparantly Ricardo was trying to find a place called Westcliff and wanted to do it there... And little did I know! He just said the GPS must have made a mistake. Anyhoo I had no idea and there I was moaning about being tired and wanting to go sleep *giggles* So he left it and decided to do it the next day (Saturday 21 April)...

Saturday morning came, and we were up bright and early for breakfast on the patio outside our garden suite at Twin Waters guest house... we had an amazing view of the river and there is nothing more magical than the sound of water - so calming. After breakfast, we relaxed and spoke for a bit and I noticed Ricardo had an eyelash on his cheek. We do this thing where we take the eyelash, place it on our left hand and make a wish... anyhoo, he told me I could have the wish. So I closed my eyes and this is what I wished - "I wish that Ricardo would just propose to me already!" Seriously, that's what I wished!

So Ricardo asked me what I wished for... and clearly I couldn't tell him! He then smiled and said "Maybe I can make your wish come true"... looking back now I think it would have been amazing to tell him the truth and then have him propose right then and there - it was the perfect opportunity! But instead I said - I wish for the same thing I always wish for... happiness.

After that, we walked around the garden down by the river and found this section with a cute bench and little garden statues and plants and stuff.. very pretty! And we sat in silence on that bench. All the while I was thinking - I hope there are no spiders here and dammit I need to do my hair and get done so we could go to Gold Reef City and still! Here I had no clue he was about to propose!

Next thing I noticed was that his hand was in his pocket... and he kept looking at me expectantly... I had this feeling something was about to happen, and right then and there he went down on one knee and there in front of me was the most precious ring I've ever seen in my life! It was perfect! I saw his lips move but at that moment all I heard was a deafening silence - everything literally went QUIET - I had gotten so shaken up and teary eyed that I didn't even hear him ask the question "Will you marry me?" LOL! After the sound came back he was like... so aren't you going to answer my question? And I was like, "Um- ask me again. I didn't hear you!" Then he laughed and asked again "Will you marry me?" and I freaked out like a girly girl and said "Yes yes yes OMG yes!". After a while of freaking out, I was like, "Okay - put the ring on my finger!" LOL and we hugged and kissed and it was the most emotional moment of my life! You don't know how you will feel until that moment is there and when it happens and it's meant to be, it's beyond amazing. Like nothing I've ever experienced or felt before - just pure elation and excitement for the future and spending the rest of our lives together <3 Mr & Mrs Harvey... soon soon (^^,)

No idea!

21 April 2012: Little did I know...

Eyelash... make a wish!

21 April 2012: Having breakfast on the patio overlooking the river. Bliss :) P.S. The eyelash story will be revealed soon...

The best steak ever

20 April 2012: After taking an afternoon nap, we got all dolled up and went to The Grillhouse restaurant to have dinner with Nazeem, his future wifey (the couple getting married the Sunday) and friends. It was awesome... wow the portion of food here is INSANE! Definitely worth the money and Harvey claims he had the best steak he ever had in his life... I would have nommed his steak too if nobody was watching me :D

Haagen Dazs... an orgasmic explosion of awesomeness in your mouth

20 April 2012: Forgot to mention earlier... at Sandton City Mall we got ourselves a tub of Haagen Dazs ice-cream... WOW. Fokken expensive but sooooo worth it!

Check in time at Twin Waters guest house, Olivedale

20 April 2012: So after having a late lunch (laka Indian curry and naan bread and stuff) at the mall, we hooked up Harvey's GPS and started looking for the guest house where we're staying at for the weekend... and we got so lost! We were very impressed at how beautiful and green the surroundings are in Jozi... I think we were in the "Constantia" part of Jozi because the houses were massive mansions! We finally found Twin Waters guest house and what an amazing house! These photos don't really do it much justice. What I loved most about the place was the river and the calming sound of the water, the ceiling mirror in the bedroom (gotta have one of those in my room one day), and the skylight in the bathroom/ shower... it really felt like we were one with nature. Bliss (**,)

Nelson Mandela Square & the American Pie

20 April 2012: So I finally saw the big Nelson Mandela statue in person! What a beaut! After roaming around, Ricardo and I decided to see the American Pie: Reunion movie ~ soooo funny! And I must say the cinemas in Jozi are pretty sweet! The screens are bigger and the seats are great. Harvey and I had the Love Seats :)

Car rental pickup and Mallception

20 April 2012: After the Gautrain we walked over to the car rental place with our luggage, and then went to Sandton City Centre to kill some time till we book in at our accomodation for the weekend after 3pm. We ended up roaming around the centre... which had like 2 or 4 different malls inside... I call it "Mallception", LOL! My favourite one was Nelson Mandela Square.
