29 May 2011: After playing all afternoon, and then eventually watching some Tom & Jerry (by the way, is Jerry a girl? He/she has girly eye-lashes), Kylie took a little nap and we decided to set up the TV in the lounge and make a fire... so beautiful. I absolutely love being all warm under the blankies watching movies with my favourite person in the whole world (**,) We have officially been boyfriend and girlfriend for 7 months, unofficially - 10 months. Crazy how time flies!

28 May 2011: So we went on a bit of a double date (my boyfriend, myself, my sister, and her boyfriend) - to see Hangover 2 at Grand West, and instead of a big popcorn I got me the kiddies combo... look how cute and tiny everything is! Pixie-food. Oh, and I am a Slush Puppy slut. If you wanna see me smile like a little girl give me a Slush Puppy :D

28 May 2011: I wasn't in the mood for anything so I slipped back into my PJ's and lazed around all day.

Crash Car Burn

27 May 2011: Okay so we arrived a little too early at Klein Libertas Theatre (Stellies)... after 7pm, and CCB only played their set after 11. We were tired by then but after hearing our favourite CCB songs our moods immediately lit up again :) We got to see 2 other bands as well - Bright Blue City (okay so I felt a bit sorry for the lead singer... he looked somewhat uncomfortable and he seemed to be straining his voice - good smiley energy though!) and Dance, You're On Fire! (dig this band - gotta get my hands on their album).

26 May 2011: So I'm on my way to meet Jesse Jordan at Spur (Zevenwacht Mall) to chat about a songwriting collab (which went really well, by the way) and I see this car next to me and there's a sticker on the back window saying "I star at Hellen O'Grady Drama Academy)"... you can kind of see the yellow sticker in the bottom left corner there - which awesome because that's where I did 3 years of drama classes when I was younger :)

19 May 2011: I drive past these homeless people living under the N2 bridge next to the N1 in Cape Town. I feel so sorry for them but it fascinates me how they seem so happy... brushing their teeth, getting dressed and ready to find work (possibly)... or beg for money, I don't know. It's so sad though - sometimes I wanna make a whole lotta sandwiches and just leave it there, but I won't because that would only solve the current situation, not long-term... they would feel someone is always looking out for them, they'd always come back for more and not feel compelled to get out of the situation they are in. So it's catch 22. What to do? Any ideas? Shall I inform the council and demand they do something about it?

18 May 2011: This is my beautiful dog Roxy chilling in the yard outside my bedroom window. Oh, and today is also the day I became a woman in 1998... 13 years ago (I was 16). Yeah, the anniversary of my period. That was a very sad day. I think my PMS was the worst it could ever be.

14 May 2011: Wrapped up this very special gift for AOL tomorrow... at this point I don't know who the receipient will be but I sure do know they will love it :) I bought these prayer beads at the Ashram in India at Navaratri last year October so whoever receives this gift should know that they are blessed.

Friday the 13th

13 May 2011: Okay so it's Friday 13th today... and today is extra special because it's Guruji's birthday :) And it's also Day 1 of the special mega 3-day Art of Living Part 1 course. I feel very blessed to be a part of it. Oh... and I finally reached 400 followers on twitter!

A 'mental' note we should all be making

12 May 2011: Okay so this is kind of a follow-up post on yesterday's post re: the Men are from Mars Women are from Venus book. I find this one really interesting, and makes a lot of sense! Everyone should be making this 'mental' note so the world can be a better place between 'martians' and 'venusians'. 
Basically, men and women have different emotional needs - there are 12 of them. A woman primarily needs Caring, Understanding, Respect, Devotion, Validation and Reassurance. Whereas a man primarily needs Trust, Acceptance, Appreciation, Admiration, Approval and Encouragement. Each of these needs work in accordance with one another as you can see in the above image. Give a man his primary need and he will automatically return with a woman's primary needs, similarly give a woman her primary needs and she will automatically return with the man's primary needs! It's all about maintaining that balance. Give and take :)

Book of Shadows

11 May 2011: Finally bought the calligraphy dip pen I always wanted! I need this to write things in my Book of Shadows ...as I call it. It's my new age version of a Journal, or Diary. It sounds medieval which is what I love about it most.

"Home" cooked hearty lunch

11 May 2011: I just felt like having a home-style hearty meal for lunch so I ordered the Stuffed Chicken Breast from Manhattans. They give you enough food to feed a family of two - this here, is only but half of what I ordered. Just a heads up though - when you do order this one, make sure you ask for half portion veggies and half potato wedges or mash.

Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus

10 May 2011: Started reading Men are from Mars Women are from Venus (by John Gray) again. It's amazing how this little resource can totally transform your relationships, your life! One thing I will take from this book is that men are like rubber bands (once they've fulfilled their intimacy level they pull away like a rubber band, but eventually they come back with more love to give) and women are like waves (they reach emotional highs and lows and all they need during the time they're stuck in the well is support and understanding - she needs to reach rock bottom before she can climb up again). I'm looking forward to putting this new understanding into practice.

Fondue

8 May 2011: So it's Mother's Day today! Got my Mom the grill pan she's always wanted since watching the Food Network. She absolutely loved it and even wanted to make some food in there. But we had fondue to start (how crazy is this platter?) and then we had braai for lunch, followed by delicious home-made dessert :)

7 May 2011: After my afternoon nap I woke up feeling dizzy and weird (think it may have something to do with my Jet Therapy session  earlier that day), and thought I was tripping when I saw my glass brick window... I had covered it with this brown paper to avoid direct sunlight while taking afternoon naps like these... but how pretty is this picture?

7 May 2011: Haven't made one of these delicious tarts since high school! I'm told my Peppermint Tart is fluffy and light and oh so amazingly divine. Made this for dessert for Mother's Day lunch with the family.

Time travel

6 May 2011: Saw Fast 5 with the MOCSA team (Mazda Owner's Club SA). I have to say it was the best action movie I've seen in a while! It was waaay better than I expected it to be. However, the cinematic experience at Kenilworth Centre was like time travel... how old-school is this decor? And the 1950's music playing in the background just added to the ambience.
